The second period started quietly with both sides trying to find the back of the net. Both goaltenders were in top form and didn’t allow any goals in the second. Shots were 19-17 in favour of the Coyotes as the period ended in a flurry of penalties.
Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith was replaced by Jason Lebarbera at the start of the third period. Antoine Vermette knotted things up 2:26 into the third at the back end of the of an Alexander Edler major. Jordan Schroeder scored the eventual game winning goal with ten minutes to go and held on for an important win to start the road trip.
