Highlights – 21/3 – Canucks vs Coyotes

Friday, March 22nd, 2013

The Vancouver Canucks kicked off a three game four day road trip tonight at the Jobing.com Arena against the Phoenix Coyotes. After his thirty two saves in the last start, Cory Schneider again got the nod in the net. After picking up an injury and only posting 2:48 of ice time against the Blues, Zack Kassian was out of the line up for this evenings game.

The first period was a quiet affair with thirteen shots being registered by both sides. The Canucks did manage to take the lead with a lovely exchange between Mason Raymond and Chris Tanev, with the latter putting in the wrist shot past Mike Smith.

The second period started quietly with both sides trying to find the back of the net. Both goaltenders were in top form and didn’t allow any goals in the second. Shots were 19-17 in favour of the Coyotes as the period ended in a flurry of penalties.

Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith was replaced by Jason Lebarbera at the start of the third period. Antoine Vermette knotted things up 2:26 into the third at the back end of the of an Alexander Edler major. Jordan Schroeder scored the eventual game winning goal with ten minutes to go and held on for an important win to start the road trip.
