Sedinery signs on 4 more years!

Sunday, November 3rd, 2013

It is official, after months of endless speculation, the Vancouver Canucks announced the Sedin twins have signed identical 4-year $28 million extensions [a $7 million cap hit].

Let’s be real, was there really ever a doubt that they would re-sign with Vancouver? No.

Yes, they could have waited until July for free agency and see what other teams had to offer and its plausible in that case that other teams would have offered them more money. As we all know, it has never been about the money with the Sedins.

Let me put this way, had this signing not taken place…it would have been trouble for the Canucks to lose two of their best players. They would have been absolutely impossible to replace, there are no two players that could ever replace them.

It would have been torture to see them on a different team.

Just in case you missed the official press conference with the TWINS & TORTS, here are their thoughts on the big news:

How lucky a fan base are we to have watched these two incredible athletes develop from their ’99 draft into the elite players that they are today? The Sedins had some of the best players as their mentors [Linden, Naslund] and now they as leaders on this team are mentors to the young players coming in.

Bottom line, the Sedins want to win and the Canucks want to win. The Sedins are playing some of their best hockey right now(33 combined points in 15 games!) and will look to continue on that as the calendar flips to November and Pavel Bure night!

As always, until next time, nuck said.

After seeing Bure’s #10 retired the other day, I’m pretty sure (and very hopeful) that it’d be #22 and #33 up there someday also.
